Week 01 Day 01: attendance, review syllabus, discuss how the class will operate, question and answer, in-class survey, review necessary materials and books
Materials Needed for Class
Online Access & Tools- computer with internet connection, in some cases just a smartphone with internet access will work
- your mailbox.winthrop.edu email account in a browser for accessing certain course content, including ebooks, logging into our class lectures & discussions via Google Meet
- Google Meet works in any browser, best in Chrome or Edge
- (optional) the Google Meet app for iPhone, iPad, and Android works just like the browser version but is built for mobile
- sign into the Meet app with your mailbox.winthrop.edu email address and password, and use our class Meet code
- Google Calendar
- add our class to your Google Calendar, and include the class Google Meet Code so you always have it handy
- comics from our reading list
- get a public library card from your city and county, to get free access to comics we use in class
- Hoopla app for mobile which runs in browsers too, lets you access free books and connects to your public library card
- Winthrop student ID card for accessing library materials if you want to get them from campus
- notebook and pen/pencil for jots, or you can type them digitally
- word processing software
- Microsoft Word or Google Docs or Apple Pages, for writing papers
- Google Docs is built into your mailbox.winthrop.edu email
Optional Media
- streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime Video are all optional and not required for completing this course
