DUE Monday June 28th
- Write a 1-page to 2-page list.
- Name 10 graphic novels that you believe should be "must reads" for somebody.
- You do not need to have read these 10 books for this Report, just identify which 10 and why somebody should read them.
- Of the 10 graphic novels, you must include 2 from our reading list:
- EITHER 2 from the "Also Read" book list
- OR 2 from the "Must Read" book list
- for the 4th Report DUE July 5th, you will need to have read these 2 from Also Read and/or Must Read
- In all, of the 10 books…
- 2 have to be from our reading list
- 9 of them must be new to you, not yet read by you
- EXAMPLE HERE
- in the 10, it's okay if you've read 1 of them already
- Name the title of the book, author, and artist.
- Under each book, write 2-4 sentences
- Why do you want to read that book?
- Why should somebody else read that book?
- Bullet-points are okay when stating your Why items.
- Use good grammar, write in complete sentences.
- Minimum 1-page
- Maximum 2-page
- Times or Times New Roman font, 12 point, double-spaced
- Name your typed-up paper Lastname-3rd-Report.pdf and email as an attachment to the instructor.
Worth 25-points
Weighted ×5, earning a 5 earns you a 25 (5×5=25).
- a
5 is excellent (5×5=25), for writing that addresses the prompt above completely and appropriately, and you have little to no
spelling/grammar issues, you've given the reader a complete sense of things
- if
a 4
(4×5=20), it's above average, addresses most of the topics but not all
or not fully, with some spelling/grammar issues, may feel incomplete in
one or more of those areas
- a 3 (3×5=15) isn't awful, but it
only
addresses some of the topics, with frequent spelling/grammar issues,
missing a majority of information or may have lots of problems
transitioning between ideas, doesn't meet the page count requirement
- you score a 2 (2×5=10) because it might have very little content addressed, too many spelling/grammar issues, lacks full background, doesn't meet the page count requirement
- earning a 1–0 (1×5=5 or 0×5=0) is for unsatisfactory, incomplete, or inappropriate work, zero (0) no work, doesn't meet the page count requirement
Xtra Credit Challenge, earn up to 35/25 for a 140% on this.
- Your list of 10 books says something "on the whole" about significant and important current, cultural, and/or historical/past issues.
- If reading your 10 books educates, informs, inspires somebody, and it's clear why this is the case.
- Your list could say something about you personally. If somebody read these 10 books you've recommended, they'd know more about your interests, you and your self.
- To earn this +10, you have to go "beyond the surface" and get at more than just the art, more than just the design of the book. You have to go deep, get at something substantive.
- Once somebody has read your list, there should be a 1+1=3 effect, so that the sum of the books and your reviews say A LOT more than just one book would. See this example.
